Doernbecher Dunk High
January 16, 2013
Having been through more than 13 heart surgeries, young Flannigan Mooney (10 years old) has kept an unwavering positive attitude throughout his life. Because of this, Nike and Doernbecher Children’s Hospital have given Flannigan the chance to design his own shoe to interpret his condition. The Dunk High SB made from yellow and blue leather is highlighted by a giant red heart and the words “THUMP THUMP” signifying Flannigan’s resilient heart that won’t stop beating. A clear sole with smiling face showing through, shamrock label on tongue and stitched swoosh all represent his never ending smile, Irish heritage and stitches through past surgeries.
Part of the Free Style Collection, these shoes are meant to support and to share the stories of those kids who have gone through the unimaginable. Very limited quantities of Flannigan’s Dunk High SB are now available in store.
