If a tree falls in the woods and no one is there to hear it, does it still make a sound? If the wilderness housing this tree hasn’t seen masses since the years of “Five Flavors” does said myth become even more of a reality? Does this tree continue to skate and build spots just for the forest and the sake of its cement seedling? Just to stare at it, nurture it, watch it grow and become influenced and affected by others?
It’s getting colder out there these days and lets face it, shralping will soon be at a minimum. So to ease the pain, the inaugural ceremony of the Winter sessions at House of Vans kicked off last night with a great crew of dudes from DQM and KCDC to shred, eat some pizza and drink some beers. Plenty of hammers hit the ground and even more empties fell into the trash can…
We’ve just received the premiere issue of 43, Allen Ying’s stylish, not for profit skate magazine. It’s a nice little publication with great photos of the right dudes. This first issue has a great feature on DQM team rider Brian Delatorre, complete with some of Dela’s own personal photographs. Stop by your local shop and pick up a copy.

Brian Lotti is a cool talker. I mean the way he talks, the way he pronounces things. He sounds like a little kid. A huge, happy, twelve year old man. It makes me smile when grown-ups sound like children. Brian’s skating makes me smile too. When he resurfaced again I bought a popsicle. I sat there and licked it and watched his footage. He did backside 360’s and I giggled. Then I went and jumped on a trampoline for a while. After that I played catch with my dad. I had some dinner and my mom read me a story about Maurice Richard until I fell asleep. It was my 25th birthday.
