Girl & Lakai Demo Recap

July 06, 2011

The idea to do a Girl/Lakai project was a no brainer for us. With all the history we have shared through the years from EMB to the Banks and back again we knew that a shop signing and demo would be sick and feel like old times. As it turns out that’s exactly what happened…

http://www.dqmnewyork.com/images/news_uploads/A legendary skate session at a legendary meet up spot in the East Village of New York City. Old friends that we all grew up watching pave the way for what we know as skateboarding today met up and skated our spot like it was the good ol’ days and we all got to hang out, eat, drink, skate and watch it happen right along with them. Mike Carroll, Rick Howard, Scott Johnston, Alex Olson, Anthony Pappalardo, Austyn Gillette, Raven Tershy, Joey Pepper and Vincent Alvarez helped us usher in yet another amazing 4th of July weekend here in NYC. Facts like Scootch having the best style were re affirmed, Alex multi-tasked a kicker to billboard wallride. Carroll tried to decapitate Raven and then proceeded to comprise a block long feeble to back tail putting any other major concerns to bed so we could get blurry at Panda Lounge thanks to the bevy of free Heineken, adult flavored cocktails and shot girls handing out little glasses of vodka that tasted like candy.

We would like to personally thank Girl Skateboards, Lakai, Billy Rohan, Open Road and everyone else that was involved in making this event happen. That includes you. It was a great day for all. Nothing beats watching those guys do what they do best. Best hangover ever.
